My heliconia velloziana are alive, with the lowest temperature: -3oC, below freezing point, for one night.

Looking at pictures, what was sold to me as schiedeana is actually probably Mexico gold (the inflorescence looks like it- not anything like schiedeana)

Same as my last photo here, as it grow slowly, before it stopped growing once temperature dropped below freezing point. It'll regrow in 2 months time.

On yesterday (10/8/14) I checked & marked the growing rolled leaf of my heliconia velloziana and today I noticed it had growing, It had almost no frost damages, just green leaves. It had same hardiness as heliconia subulata.

My heliconia velloziana is cold hardy to zone 9b.

OOp! My mistake, the second photo (6/6/15) were photographed on 28th June 2015, not 6th June 2015. sorry.

heliconia velloziana can be grown down to zone 9a.
