Here is a pic of my Chambeyronia macrocarpa taken yesterday.

Sad... if the leaf open in the winter...it stays red for a month... but during the summer... a week is about it.

BTW... the palm is slow growing for me here in Modesto ( zone 9a ).... but it takes a little more cold that the King palms just out of range in the pic.

My Kings get a little damage by our frost every year... but  my Chambeyronia macrocarpa has never seen any damage from temps down to 27f.

So we can really grow Chambeys in the SJ Valley huh...  That's great to hear.  I am buying a couple either way, but to hear of another growing it successfully makes me feel that much better.  The red is just so...Cool...

Oh yeah and Bad Air (inbetween cities with #1 and #2 ranked bad air in the nation - Fresno and Bakersfield)

Fantastic Jeff. Chambeyronias are becoming my favorite species. That's why I'm up to eleven of them now so that I can enjoy new red leaves much more often. Just wish they'd produce more than just two or three a year!

Jeff, it is glorious.  Nice, red color.

I've found that Chambeys are a LOT tougher than people think.

They are a bit on the slow side, but they take the cold surprisingly well, and I've tortured enough to the edge of the grave to regret it, then glory when they came back with some TLC.
