Thanks for posting !

Such a lovely exotic garden!

With such cold winters, how do you do?

Do you heat all your garden :winkie: ?

or do you bring many plants indoor?

Congratulation for the result and for the pictures too!

Many thanks

Roger,

Would you mind posting winter photos too?

Thanks Doranakandawatta, only the tender palms in containers come inside the house for winter, everything else is planted in the ground.

Winter photos … Do you want snow or no snow pics? I have both, LOL!

How do you protect your Araceae (Philodendron?) and the tree-ferns?

I am very impressed!

BTW can you tell us in °celsius the average cold you have in winter?

many thanks

Stop! its too early to see pain like that.... :bemused: (But the first pix were great!)

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Steve it all depends on just how cold it gets in winter…some times it really green and other times it really white, which I do not like!

BS man I agree its just to early to think about this kind of weather.

Doranakandawatta the tree fern is protected with a blanket if it going to get very cold, and during really bad winter it is cover to keep the crown protected. But most winters I don’t have to do anything. It just depends on how cold it get, if a major cold spell is coming I use blankets and tarps to keep things alive, it seems to work so far. LOL!

Philodendron is new this year but I’ve had them in the ground years ago, and they never really get any bigger than the previous year. So I’m growing this on in a container and bringing inside when things go dormant here in December. If you like I take some winter pics in early January.

Here are my lows for the past five year, first one was really bad and cause a lot of died back and killed most of my tender palms so they were all replace in the last four years.

Keith those pics were the worst winters in a long time so I had to show them.

As long as the temps stay above 17F everything will look good come spring.

Just have to wait and see? B)

I've just seen your post.

Very nice.

Seems like our climates are quite close, but you've done a much better job than I did :) !

Incredible and inspiring combinations of colors and shapes! Wonderful color on the passion vine. Would like to know what your are growing it on: a tree? trellis?

You are very brave and must also have a (green/white?) thumb to maintain your garden in such an adverse climate.
