How long before I can stick a fork in it? Will it set seed in SoCal? Note highlighted moth - possible pollinator?

Very nice!!!  It is doomed and will die a little while after the flower is wilted.  I wanted to put some of these guys in my yard but changed my mind after I learned that they die after they flowered and rarely do they produce any pup.
