I have a bit of a rainforrest in the back yard myself. Used to have 85 different species planted. I let the hobby slide over the years and now barely remember what I planted. These pics taken during a monsoonal downpour last week.

We ( Darwin Northern Territory ) have an extreme wet/dry Monsoonal climate.our rainfall of about 70" a year falls between Oct and April. The other 5 months are usually completely dry. Extreme night temps of 52f during the 'dry' and 88f'-92f during the day. Dry season nights average 68f-72f. Wet season nights average 78f-86f and days 92f-96f. Wet season humidity and heat is brutal.

To grow equatorial  palm species here we need a lot of irrigation during the dry months.

Things are really growing for me-business/career, family, and palms. I have a lot to be thankful for!

My son has recently bought his own patch of rainforest on Darwin's outskirts at Howard Springs. The property is on 1  acre that backs onto 80 acres of classic Top End riparian rainforest jungle.
Here are some pics I took in the last few days. The previous owners were obviously palm enthusiasts, although with the house being a rental the last few years, the gardens have suffered somewhat, with Ganoderma and termites taking their toll on some of the older specimans.
I've never been real good with palm ID's, anyone wants to chime in with ID's, please do so....
1/-  Carpentaria acuminata.
