An amazing trip to Nepal

Bo already gave you the synopsis of the trip; now I'll add a few photos. Nepal is a very colorful place, and Kathmandu in particular. Marigolds and the bright orange color are popular.

Our first evening, we tried the local beer and found it quite decent. Here Bo pours an Everest.

At first Kathmandu can be overwhelming, but once you pick up the rhythm and can easily slink between cars and motorbikes without being maimed, then you can begin to relax and enjoy the vivid life around you.

Moving on to the hike, here Bo enjoys the first of many yak encounters shortly after walking from the airport in Lukla.

The Tibetan ponies were spirited and maybe a little more independent than a rider might prefer. Their lovingly made saddle blankets are absolutely gorgeous. ... ... ... Taking a break on the trail

Arriving at the most distant and highest point of our hike, we passed three lakes, all still frozen, abnormal for this time of year. I think Bo mentioned it was cold. :mrlooney:

Yes, we did visit every bakery in Kathmandu and Namche Bazaar! This one was the best.

Winding down in Chitwan after the long hike was a great choice. It was warm and relaxing, and the elephants did most of the hiking for us. We spent an afternoon gliding downriver in a dugout canoe in perfect silence while observing colorful birds and small crocodiles.

Gladly, Kim and Bo, you're here!

Thanks everybody! And we're glad we returned safely as well! :) Incidentally, the aircraft crash that Philippe is referring to happened a few days ago at Jomsom Airport when a Nepal Airlines Twin Otter ran off the runway. No casualties, but six people received serious injuries and that's bad enough. And we actually flew in a Twin Otter, on our flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu, but different airline - Tara Air. It was a 34 year old plane, but it got us where we wanted to go! And on time! Not bad in Nepal! :mrlooney:
