Recommended Posts

When I go to maui, Im probaly going to want to take seeds back. Well, I am. Is this a problem? Would it be a problem to take a plant back to california? Or will I need to be crafty and descretly when I take them in to california. What is the penalty? Cant be that bad?

The actual crossing of HI to CA with seed is not illegal. If you are looking to get Pritchardia sp., there are 8-12 species that are endangered. Here are the ones I know of:

viscosa

napaliensis

arecina

affinis

remota

almyer-robinsonii?

Apparently you can collect and sell seed/plants of these plants off your own palm unless you have a permit.

Hawaii is in the US... so they have different rules than when bringing things back from foreign countries.

From what I've heard from people who've been-there-done-that, Cali ain't as paranoid about stuff from H as they are from T or F.
