These are currently the biggest surprise in my recent order of mostly Pinangas. Lots of color on the new leaves, silvery undersides and bright red petioles that carries all the way into the rachis. The crownshaft is starting to show hints of yellow that really shows up when they get older. The leaves are thick and leathery, so I'm eventually thinking they may even make good indoor palms. We'll see on that one.

Apparently they're commonly called 'Malaya Sealing wax' and you can see why. I wish I had ordered more now...

Oh no Tim! Please don't tell me I've reached my Puerto Rico Pinanga limit and if I try to grow more the Pinanga police will arrive!

Or worse all my Pinangas will self-destruct.

Yes, unfortunately I don't have access to much literature right now. They're from thailand, malaysia, sumatra and I'd guess they're not very cold-tolerant (like most pinangas). I wish I could help more but it's actually quite cold where I am, so I keep all of this stuff locked up in my greenhouse in winter.
