Arrived in Bali a few hours ago, first stop, the hotel pool!

After a quick swim it was time to have a look at what palms the hotel had to offer.

Okay, to finish the day off, here's a pic of me drinking my raspberry cordial. They say it helps to protect you from Bali Belly! :floor:

Bali is a lot of fun, so much we even got married there in 1997 at Kupu Kupu Barong in Ubud :) .... The botanic gardens wasn't very exciting for me especially with Archontophoenix lining the roadsides and "very few" Varieties of Palms to see. With that amazing climate such an incredible collection of Palms should be planted there..note the Acanthophoenix rubra on post 20 that the gardens has tagged calamus sp :) Happy Bday for the other day Peter. Pete :)

Very true, the Bali Botanical were no Nong Nooch! Good call on that A.Rubra, the thought didn't even cross my mind, if only one of my seeds would germinate!

Thanks, Peter

Paul is an iconic Palmtalker and Bali traveller, wife = Jes.

Bit of a silly thing thing to say of course, sorry, that's me, great to see you enjoyed yourself. I often wondered whether there might be an endemic palm in Bali, maybe a Pinanga or something, up in the hills.

Wal, during our travels through the hills of Bali the only palms that I saw much of were the coconut, the occasional Areca Catechu and there were quite a few massive Arenga Pinnata, it looked like the locals were selling the black Arenga fibre along the side of the road aswel as the betel nuts. Anyway here is a photo for you, this is the typical landscape of the hills.
