Perth today and for the next few days is melting. It's over 39C today. The forecast is tomorrow 39, Saturday is 40C, Sunday is 38C and the nights are around 23C. Meant to get thunderstorms this arvo. Kinda dry at the moment. This should change if it rains. Monday is meant to be 32C and humid, the same for Tuesday, then rain and more humidity after that. I'm actually expecting low 40's from tomorrow on. I will be watering heaps to keep the humidity up. Summer has finally arrived.

Humidity is low. To increase humidity just add water. I will be watering a lot for a few days.

28C and high humidity would be my choice if I had a choice.

It's 10.20pm and it's 34C with a 13C dewpoint. There are some big thunder clouds closing in with quite a bit of lightening. We may get rain but I'm not counting on it. If the easterly wind picks up in the next hour it may blow it this way. If the cloud cover stays around we may not drop below 28-30C tonight.

So far Jan has been about 4C cooler than average with both max's and min's. This warm weather may bring it back to average.

It's going to be tough to get to sleep tonight.

Tyronne, I thought it would not be too bad with only a 13C dewpoint.

It has been warm here too lately, although yesterday arvo we had a good thunderstorm that dumped up 10 110mm around the place and cooled things down nicely. Dew points have been up as well..definitely don't turn off the fans all night..LOL

Daryl, your weather is nice and humid with great dewpoints.

It's 40C at the moment and still climbing. It went down to 22C last night, but it held up above 30C for ages.

It's a pity it's so hot today. A friend of mine is moving and he's an avid palm collector with heaps of Foxyladies and cycads and real collectables. He's moving house and plans to dig a lot up and move with him. I planned to help him and some of the good stuff he was going to give to me, but digging up palms in 40C heat with low humidity wouldn't be good for them. A bit too hot to do anything actually. I pity all those going down to the Australia day fireworks in this heat.

Tyrone

It hit 42C today. It's 31C past midnight. Tomorrow is forecast 41C so I'm expecting about 43C. There's been a lot of dry easterlies too. Quite dessicating. Clouds moved in again tonight with quite a lightening show, but no rain.

I'm looking forward to humid weather from Mon on.

Good luck in heat survival today Tyronne. It's bloody hot here already at 5:15am, going to be a real stinker with humidity but hopefully some rain this afternoon/evening. May go to the tropical plant show today at Mt Cooth-tha. The Palm and Cycad show is on next weekend.

Here's some around the country city forecasts for today. Hopefully give overseas people an insight into the climate differences in our vast country. Won't see koala riding kangaroos in most places today, they're keeping still in the shade of a tree somewhere.

Over here they're on strike.

It got to 42C again today after a night around 24C. The difference today from yesterday was there was a lot of cloud around. It's 31C at the moment around 8.30pm and there are thick clouds and some thunderstorms coming. Dewpoint is a much better around 20C and should steadily rise. It feels like Singapore outside at the moment. Veitchia joannis and Foxyladies are just going mental at the moment.

Wal, just something I've noticed about maps of Oz, but not all of them. They don't actually line them up North South, but tilt the west coast down a tad so they look proportional on a page. I even used to think that Sydney and Perth were at similar lat's but Sydney is about 300km south of Perth's lat. Not all maps do this though. Just something I've noticed.

Still hot here. Had a minimum of 27C with another day of 42C. Raphia vinifera grew about 8cm of spear in 24hrs. Give em heat and water and they're fast. Humid change coming in later with a sane max tomorrow of 32C, so should feel like Cairns a bit, real sticky. Yeah..
