Three Screaming Lemurs

Kim

Recommended Posts

Taking a cue from DoomsDave with my title... two of my three Lemurophoenix halleuxii are having a synchronized frond opening. Here they are two mornings ago...

The largest in the middle has a spike, but it will grow much more before opening. The two smaller palms sport the color.

This shot is from June, 2010 when they were first planted. Yeah, I know, three Lemurophoenix, what was I thinking? I guess that was a mistake, so much better to have just one. :mrlooney:

EDIT: About the color, I couldn't say. These seem quite consistent. My avatar is the big one opening a spike last July.

KIM!

I'd have called them the Three Lemurs of the Apocalypse . . .

They have trashed my sensibilities and raised them higher.

Those three Lemurophoenix have done exceedingly well in the 2.5 years since they were planted. And they are really beginning to kick in now. :) And it's my experience that the new frond will consistently be a dramatic red. The larger the palm, the more spectacular it gets! :)

Thank you all for sharing in my excitement. I can't help it, after being gone for a length of time, then coming back to the Hawaii garden, I get all revved up about my palms and bromeliads. Please don't cry, Bill. Gary, I have a bit of a wait before these get the size of Marcus'. :)

I hope you have a sitting area set up for me, along with a small table to place my drink. This will be a popular place to sit, stare, and relax.

Three fronds at one time? Well poke me in the eye with a sharp stick. How great is that and I only hope I'm around to

see them reach the size as Jeff's.

Very nice indeed.

They have way surpassed the growth rate of ours - wish we could get some of your rain on the west side of the island.

I'll take the liberty of answering! :) Kim's second photo in post #5 tells the story. And compare with the recent shot (first photo in post #1). :)

I am TRYING to be patient, but comparing mine to your trio makes it difficult to wait...

As you can can see, it's worth the wait.

I just keep playing that video over and over! What's wrong with me? I am trying to create a lush tropical garden on the sandy shores of Guatemala! It's a sickness I tell you. But until my garden grows I have you and the other folks from Hawaii who keep me inspired. Thank you for your incredible posts...three lemurs...jeez Louise!
