Taking a cue from DoomsDave with my title... two of my three Lemurophoenix halleuxii are having a synchronized frond opening. Here they are two mornings ago...

The largest in the middle has a spike, but it will grow much more before opening. The two smaller palms sport the color.

This shot is from June, 2010 when they were first planted. Yeah, I know, three Lemurophoenix, what was I thinking? :rolleyes: I guess that was a mistake, so much better to have just one. :mrlooney:

EDIT: About the color, I couldn't say. These seem quite consistent. My avatar is the big one opening a spike last July.

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

Those three Lemurophoenix have done exceedingly well in the 2.5 years since they were planted. And they are really beginning to kick in now. :) And it's my experience that the new frond will consistently be a dramatic red. The larger the palm, the more spectacular it gets! :)

I just keep playing that video over and over! What's wrong with me? I am trying to create a lush tropical garden on the sandy shores of Guatemala! It's a sickness I tell you.
