Manambe Lavaka Video Tour 2012

Recommended Posts

I've been meaning to do a garden update this year, but I think my garden has been photographed and posted here a lot. So since I just got a new camera, I thought that I'd try to do a garden tour with video.

Very nice, great steady moving camera work, I'm a sucker for a soundtrack so I would add something like "At Last" by Etta James, that would fit well with the motion and of the terrific gardening feat by the CEO of Manambe Lavaka.

Happy Gardening

What's that KFC'd looking trio of palms in No. 25, first picture? Hard to tell what they are, and, if they're still around, hard to see in the second pic. Royals? :hmm:

Dave,

Those are the same Teddy Bears as in post 22. I planted them on Christmas Eve 2007, which is when the pic in post 22 was taken. Then in post 25, Spring of 2008, they were pretty crispy! But obviously they've recovered nicely.

The Kentiopsis is huge now

The arid area looks as good as any i have ever seen and is superbly landscaped for maximum effect all those small rocks and the blue plants look fantastic .

Great growth in the Rainforest section alot of those palms were shorter than me in 2010 . I spotted the bigger Hedyscepe in mix as well .

Looks like all your hard work is finally paying off

WELL DONE Matty !

Looks fantastic! I love what you did with the old wheel barrel having the plant growing up into it.

Are you going to add any big succulents? They grow so good down there.

I have some succulents if you look closely in the "xeric garden" video; echeverias, crassulas, aloes, semperviums, aeoniums, dudleya, graptoveria, senicio, kalanchoe, and I'm always adding more. What do you mean by "big succulents"?

Things like big leaf Aeoniums like sunburst, tree Aloes from Africa, Euphorbia etc....I do see some of them now in the Vid. Looks Cool!

The videos captured the overall feel and layout of the garden, but didn't highlight some of the interesting individual palms. So I'll add some photos of some stuff that caught my eye this morning.

Grown from seed sown in 2006, my Copernicia baileyana is finally looking like a real palm tree, and will soon be released from it's cage!

Coccothrinax do really well on my sunny slope and rocky soil. I've got 5 planted in this area next to the dirt road, exposed to the afternoon sun.

Our citrus trees are really doing well this year. Naval Orange and Bearss Lime (pictured below) are producing a lot of fruit right now.

Sabal yapa is starting to get really large leaves. I don't think I've ever pruned a leaf off of this thing. It's gonna be a monster I think.
