Acrocomia aculeata - free

This is a downright nasty, dangerous palm and I've reluctantly decide to remove it from my garden. The tree is about 10 feet tall, actually very pretty -- but those thorns, oh my! It grows fast, needs virtually no attention. Free to anyone tough enough to dig and carry it away. Otherwise I'm going to cut it to the ground. Location: Snead Island, west of Palmetto, south of Tampa, just north of Sarasota.

p.m. me if you're interested,

Lucinda

palm tree man

I would take it if I was closer. They are cool palms but yes have nasty needles.

Lucinda, oooh how I love palms with teeth! Yours is a beauty….if I could create a tesseract between us, Michael and I would come to see you and your palm, and we'd dig it together! lol. Hope to see you in March!

I have a friend in Dana Point, Ca., that will be having what I think is a sabal removed because it will start blocking view (I am clueless on the species). If you want to dig it you can have it. I estimate a three foot tall thick trunk with another three -four ft tall leaves. PM if interested. Here are a couple of pics (Sorry for the bad shots):
