Grand Palace - Bangkok

Recommended Posts

I thought somebody would have posted some tourist shots of the Grand Palace by now? There were several organised tours to this very popular tourist destination in central Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit (according to Joe our tour guide!)

That name is certainly a mouthful, so it's easier to call it by it's western name of Bangkok... :winkie:

Here's a few random photos from the grounds...all of that gold is genuine gold leaf on mosaic tiles BTW...

Gold Coast, Queensland Latitude 28S. Mild, Humid Subtropical climate. Rainfall - not consistent enough!

It would have been easier than crossing the road. But cross the road we did, is that a pedestrian crossing, don't do no good in Bangkok my son.

It was really very impressive, but we were there for palm trees, and at this stage, palm excursions and the Nong awaited us, at least that was my reason for being anxious, until I prayed in the temple, now that calmed me down.

Fantastic place and a must see at least once if in Bangkok. The crowds are unreal though and there are so many other incredible

temples or wats to see if you didn't get your fill from this place.

With a tin cup for a chalice

Fill it up with good red wine,

And I'm-a chewin' on a honeysuckle vine.
