As we were sitting on his back patio, we saw horses coming up the hill

They asked if they could access the road through Matt and Jen's property and then they rode up past the house.

Great pics Jeff, and lots of them too! It was great to finally meet you and have you over to our place. Those habaneros have been riding their horses in the canyon every day since you've been here.

I can't believe you posted that photo! LOL On my first night Paul and Jes took me to a sushi restaurant and I ordered some spring rolls. I bit into one and it was like molten lava inside. I burned the hell out of the inside of my cheek and I had to chew on the right side of my mouth for the rest of the week. The spicy food made it worse, but I didn't care. I was just happy to eat good spicy asian food again! BTW, the inside of my cheek is still not completely healed.

Oh and seeing Matt's face when he ate that microscopic piece of hot pepper... priceless!

It's a shame that I didn't get a photo of Paul chanting and dancing while we waited outside of the restaurant. A lady sitting next to us started laughing and said "as long as I live I will NEVER get that image out of my head!"

Good times!

Jeff,

Great photos and you obviously enjoyed the "extreme VIP treatment" - that could be good or bad, all depending on how much you enjoy spicy food! And keep the Big Island in mind on one of your next trips. :)

Paul,

Thanks for additional photos and commentary! Great, as always! And no, I didn't enlarge that photo of Jeff. Not this early in the morning! :mrlooney:

I am really enjoying your pix, Jeff, you have a great eye for photography. I might have thought you'd think San Diego is pretty 'ho-hum' after Costa Rica, palm-wise, but it looks like you had a fantastic time here.

I promise, I won't be surprised! As long as you let me know at least an hour in advance! Actually, a bit more than that wouldn't be a bad idea so we can plan the PRAs in advance and get others involved as well. Always fun to plan these events. And implement them! :)

Ho-hum? Not at all! You guys can grow a lot of interesting palms that I could not grow in Florida or here at sea level in Costa Rica. Howea, Brahea, Rhopalostylis, Jubaea, Trachycarpus, Hedyscepe, Jubaeopsis, and Parajubaea were all amazing! Howea was definitely my favorite (forsteriana AND belmoreana). If I lived in SoCal, I would have them planted all over my yard. I think they are the most tropical looking palms in CA.

I did have a fantastic time! Paul and Jessie are wonderful hosts and I felt right at home with them. Thanks for coming over that Saturday night, it was great seeing you again Kim! Those photos are coming up next...
