It took 3 people to lift it into my truck in 2007 when I dug it from the yard of a friend who had no idea what it was and didn't want it. I happily offered it a new home. All was going well for a while. But the freezes of the last 3 winters have been slow death for this poor palm. And tonite we're forecast for 39 degrees and tomorrow for 38. paulgila 206 Report post Posted February 13, 2012 it looks like you have alot of canopy & that helps,but maybe you can find a "warmer spot" in your garden. i have a hard time with hyophorbes,too. so far i have 2 that are doing ok,1 is in the corner of a south facing,painted blue wall,the other is in the south corner of the house under the eaves.
