This is a gorgeous tree! I've plated one in Puerto Rico after seeing them in Florida. It's kept its variegation and is growing well. Everyone who can grow them outside certainly "needs" one. Actually I have some other clusias in my greenhouses in Virginia and they do just fine also. The arial roots are interesting too. I haven't seen it bloom yet, but the species has lovely blossoms. Order one or more today as I haven't seen them for sale often!

Gee those look fantastic!

I've never seen a variegated form before. I have loved Clusia ever since I saw them in habitat in S. Florida as a little kid. I have a nonvariegated specimen that is about 8-9 ft tall now, in a 25 gallon pot that comes inside for the cold. I've had it for nearly a decade, and while it loses a few leaves some winters when I don't get it in before the temp goes below 40F...it looks great again almost immediately.

I need a variegated specimen from you...

I had a clusia specialist contact me yesterday to tell me that this was likely a Clusia guittifera variegata. Sorry for the mis-labeling. Still a beautiful plant! AggiePalms- what payment method do you prefer? :)

JD:

I am hoping to get down to Sarasota - Ft. Myers - Sanibel in a month or so, and I can pick one up then...plus probably another couple of palms/tropicals. I can't turn them down. I'll give you notice once my work plans are a bit more firm. If I can't make it down there, I will be back in touch very soon so you can ship me one.

After I saw your first post, I told my wife, and then pulled my Clusia from the back of the garage into more light in the front. I have to show it off!

Talk with you soon.

Cindy, do you have a pic of your variegated Clusia 5 years after your post about it?  I just ordered one from Top Tropicals, and will be eager to see what it "could" look like in five years in the same USDA Zone.
