Hi Dave,I am glad to see you so happy with all that palms.Have you see any Sadleria cyatheoides, please give some photo.

Nobody here grows Sadleria as a garden plant. And I have never even seen them for sale - and I don't understand it. I just dug some and intend to add them to my garden. There are literally thousands of them at slightly higher elevations - even the ones with the incredible new red leaf. A beautiful fern with some cold tolerance - they even grow well in SoCal.

For some (unknown) reason, the red does not occur at lower elevation. I was going to plant one - and still may - but I wanted it mostly for the red, which I would never get at 900 feet.

OK, we'll finish this thread with photos from Dave's final palm experience on the Big Island. An invitation by Karolyn (KPL) to visit her garden here in Leilani Estates. In other words, my old garden where I planted more than 5,000 palms over the years. Karolyn had invited me to act as Dave's guide and we had a great time touring the five acres. Dave had a tendency to get distracted though!

I don't think it's necessary for me to mention who is who in the photos (that should be pretty obvious) so I will focus my comments on the various palms. This will take a little while, but when I add the last post I WILL make a mention of that.

We began at the front entrance, and up by the house where lots of bromeliads have been planted.

Gina, I should mention that before we began the garden tour, I drove Dave up and down every cross street in Leilani Estates (there are 12 of them), showing him all the various gardens with unusual palms (from the street). Lots of them. Dave took plenty of "drive by" photos (I generally stopped the truck when he did that), so there just may be a few more posts after Dave returns home! Just a wild guess! Here's a Corypha utan and a Chuniophoenix hainanensis. Both planted from 1 gallon pots in 1997.
