Just awesome. And all in four and a half years. You have been busy. I have never seen photos of some of your palms, at least not at the size, age, you have shown. Beautiful!

Thanks...

Today, I have 767 species in my collection...

Very nice, Philippe. Our garden is about the same age... probably just a little younger... about 4 years old. A bit different in the planting style, but good to see similar age garden in similar environment :). Do you have distinct dry season where you are?

Regards, Ari :)

I have 3 seasons...

-1- Dry from Nov. to March with low temperature at night in Dec/Jan (~12/14°c)and ~25/28 at day time

-2- Hot season in April - June / Day ~32/36°c - Night ~25/30°c

-3- Rainy : July - October / Day ~30°c - Night ~25°c

Pilou:

What a great garden, which I know parrots what everyone else said.

How old is that stunning Copernicia rigida or macroglossa in post no. 3??

Looks like a big old estate. How many hectares?

I'm too stunned to scream, so I'll just chirp in delight . . . .

(cheep!)

My garden is not so big : 22,400 m2 (2.24 hectares)

#post3 : It's Copernicia macroglossa planted in Sept 2007 (was already 5 years).... If you want to see it in 2007 : http://asie.online.fr/palmiers/palmier12.html

#post 18 : Copernicia macroglossa x rigida planted on 02/05/2008 (was already 4 years)... http://asie.online.fr/palmiers/palmier106.html

I REALLY wish your garden could be on our Thailand Biennial tour!!!!! It's stunning. Great work.

When will be your tour ?

Philippe,

The IPS Biennial will take place 11-17 September 2012 (see the first thread in the IPS Biennials sub-forum) but we're not going to be anywhere near Chiang Mai. I am sure there will be Biennial participants who will venture up to Chiang Mai, either before or after the Biennial, but that will be outside of the official IPS event. In other words, on their own.

Phillipe,

Bon jour ! Your garden is gorgeous, as well as your home. What an incredible project !!!

Question: Did you source ALL of your palms locally ? How many, if any, did you have to bring in from outside the country, whether as seed or seedling ?

Thanks.

Manny

:-)

Ah no!!!

Are you sure?

That just confuses things even more!

Let me explain; I have a palm that I obtained in '08 that i had never seen before.

And have gone to great lengths since trying to id it with no luck.

Then i saw your picture and thought the mystery might be solved.

But i never even contemplated it could be Tahina cos it was a relatively large plant when i got it in '08, and Tahina was only discovered in '07!

Whats going on!!!!

Ben

You have a unique way of taking a great full photo and following it up with more detailed shots. The documentation you have compiled of all your palms will now be replacing some of the world standards that I have used to learn more about a particular species. There are numerous places in the world that I would wish to visit, but your location moves right up to the top of the list......JUST INCREDIBLE!!! As others have said, THANK YOU FOR POSTING THESE PHOTOS OF YOUR GARDEN. Scott
