Looks like you are the one who needs to get out more.

We all here LOVE palm trees no matter where we are from. That is why we are here. MANY times people have strayed just a little from a topic posted and usually the original poster does'nt act like a little school BOY and get upset.

I on the other hand,, invite any replies to my posted topics because it reaches alot more peoples' varying interest and in turn have alot more responces.

You have a great thread and i have enjoyed ALL of the pics but unfortunatly i don't have any eye catching pics of palms to share. Wish i did.

Everybody, keep em coming!

And Pedro, lighten up!! Your thread has not been hijacked.

I saw the bikini clad females but deigned to comment on the blatant sexism. This sort of thing was supposed to be disallowed in here quite some time ago. Sad to see it rear its ugly head once more. However, if the moderators are choosing to overlook it then I shall add my collection of nearly nude hairy chested muscle men, with massive packages to boot and make you all feel the shame you should have felt when posting or gawking at skinny women in swimwear. Stay with the pretty plants.

I marked my C. houailou a few days ago to see how the cold would impact it. We have had three nights in a row with high 30's here in Huntington Beach. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was still charging away:

Pete, Thanks for trying to keep this thread on topic.

The only thing that caught my eye today was this Elaeis guineensis which needs to be dug out. There must be a dozen that have popped up along our driveway and they all need to be removed. When I lived in Florida, this used to be one of my top 10 favorite palms, now they just irritate me. In this area of Costa Rica, they pop up everywhere like weeds and will dominate this entire property if we don't remove them.

I noticed this Acanthophoenix looks like it's starting to reach, maybe I will see a first ring of trunk this summer. Thought this would have a black crownshaft but happy enough with a white one!

cheers

Hi Mike. Where did you get that Allagoptera caudescens? That is the rarer variety "Bahia" or Ppectinata". I feel a much nicer plant then the standard one. I would love to track one down.

I got these many years ago from John Demott, Redland Nursery. I usually do not see these around either. This one is going in the ground next spring. They seem to survive the last 2 cold winters very well.
