Geonoma interrupta?

Very close Alex. Great guess. Geonoma is right. What species?

undata, Colombian form.

You got it Richnorm! Geonoma undata. I don't know what form it is, but it never threw a red leaf.

B. hapala

LEAFLET LOOKS WRONG

Yeah, for sure. I should do these from my computer and not my iPhone.

This plant still looks familiar to me.

The first Geonoma I've ever seen was Darold's G. undata. Just looked at the pictures from his garden, should've paid attention to the red petioles. I've seen a lot of them recently in CR, but no undatas.

ok a fuzzy piece is all you get.

Corypha?

yes

Ken, I'm pretty surprised at how well I'm doing here. I'm usually wrong trying to answer the "ID needed" threads.

Richnorm's is very odd, I can't think of anything to guess.

Jody's is one of those very difficult close-ups.

Why did I even post?

If our resident palm savant is struggling must be time for a clue. Look carefully at both pictures, I can grow maybe 100-200 species.......

@ Richnorm,

I only see one pic of yours. White fuzzy, fibers on the petioles, thin plumose leaflets. Can't be Juania australis can it?

You can see two pictures, look more closely. Not juania but, big hint, they are cousins.

Good guess but wrong cousin, and they are not plumose.

crinita?

Yep. This palm is so large that it has lost the bottom part of the "beard", and the photo I took was where the "beard" starts, leaving bare trunk below:

If you look closely, you will also see an even larger one to the right that has only a little "beard" left at the bottom.

ohhhhhhh. FYI, I think you were refering to your profile picture, which can be viewed when someone clicks on your profile. You do not have an avatar when viewed on a computer. I think the mobile version of Palmtalk uses your profile pic, not avatar. Anyhow, they are two separate pics.
