I drove by it today and it looks like it barely got a scratch.

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

This palm continues to amaze me. Today 1-18-07 was the fifth day in a row this palm has seen frost (today was 32 at 7:00 am) and it looks better than most of my king palms. I did nothing to protect it whatsoever. Steve

Urban Rainforest Palms,Cycads and Exotics. Were in San Diego Ca. about 5 miles from the beach on Tecolote canyon. It seems to be an ideal growing climate with moderate temps. and very little frost. Vacation Rental in Leilani Estates, big island Hi PM me if interested in staying there.

No visable frost on the fronds (to dry) but it was 32 where it is planted and that was the warmest low of the 5 days! Steve

Sorry Larry for us southern California guys... since when we frost out here its never on the palm fronds.  So, we aren't thinking that way when we say it.  (We see it on roofs, grass, etc.)

Update: Ok this palm is growing like crazy now! It is throwing it's 4th spear since the cold snap last winter. I recently hit it with everything and the kitchen sink including ironite and bloodmeal and it is SO green! Also giving it extra shots of agua these days and it's loving it. With this heat and humidity it thinks it's in Hawaii. If it can make it thru last winter I think it's here for the long haul. I'll post pics at the end of the growing season.
