I have a big one with a foot or two of trunk at the nursery in a 24 inch box.  It continually surprises me each winter.  27 degrees this year, no damage.  Getting a bit of overhead protection, but the thermometer was right next to it.  I expected it to go south years ago but it looks great.

Phil, I have a huge 15gal palm in full sun in my nursery. I also have a equal size Hyophorbe indica right next to it . The Hyophorbe looks better! Every year it does the samething. Looks crappy till summer.

This one didn't do so well.

Exposed to three nights of 24.8, and a consecutive night down to 27. F, no frost.

Spear's green, though.
