My 15 gallon beauty has suffered from the mid 30's temps. that I've had lately. It has lost one frond already and the last one isn't looking so hot right now.

My Prestoea Montana is a large trunking specimen that I have had in the ground for many years. The palm was exposed to 27F on Saturday night, 32F last night. There was some burning to the leaves but overall it appears to have weathered the storm.

I have one that was planted last spring as abig 5 gallon and multiple nights at 32 and never missed a beat but the other night at 27 toast.I am very sad I loved this palm one my favorites ever since seeing Dean's.

Down the road from Shon but up on a hill.

Planted Sept06, from shade, outdoor grown, 5g, 2-3'.

No direct canopy. Was looking great!

Obvious damage all leafs.

My multi Prestoea was recently planted from a 36" box. It's quite large with 5' of trunk. There is not a single frond left on the trunk. They have all dried and snapped off. I hopeful that the spike will survive. I don't know if it will be able to photosynthesize enough to keep the large palm going.

A quick update to my previous post. At least one of my P. Montana (2 foot trunk - 10 ft. overall) has carked. Danny Lewis noticed fruit flies buzzing around, grabbed the large spike and it came right out. It was planted as a double so I'm hoping the smaller one (1 foot trunk) survives.

Clay soil sucks.

Never posted, but mine was in the "4 nights under 30F bowl" and I confirmed this weekend, it is -No More-

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

This leaf damage happened after a morning low of about 32.5F, not sure if frost was a factor (unlikely). Palm about 5 ft tall, 2 inches of trunk, in a pot, inside a screen porch under no canopy, next to a pool.
