If anyone is considering a stopping over in Singapore before BKK, Singapore Airlines is advertising some special deals.

You can book a “Stop over” that includes hotel (several categories to chose from) plus airport transfers, etc.

There are some blackout dates due to the Formula One night race, the weekend after the biennial; so we elected to go before the biennial.

The Gardens by the Bay are closed now but are scheduled to reopen this summer.

I know Judy and Jim Glock are planning to go to the two gardens as well. Maybe you four can be there at the same time to view the gardens together. That would be awesome! I would contact them and see what exactly their plans might be.

FWIW, I am also a fan of Singapore. That new garden looks great, and the "other" botanic garden is absolutely amazing. When I was there in 2005, there were Coryphas blooming, which is a very rare experience. The Mandai Orchid Gardens near the zoo is incredible in its own right, and the zoo is hands down the best zoo I've ever been to.

We were just in Singapore and wanted to share some images of this incredible city. The new greenhouses don't offically open till June. The city is nicknamed the garden city and there are a multitude of gardens to see.The plants here have to be some of the best for a lush rainfall sea level climate. If you are here you have to check out the city Botanic garden (easy subway ride)The orchid garden is not free, but is outstanding!Palm collection great but many mislabeled. The Zoo... incredible,The Jurong birdpark.. Hi, as most of you know, I will not be there in Thailand. Thailand was great in 1998 and I know 2012 will indeed top that year and all the other years after 1998. If, you are going to Thailand, do try and make it to Singapore, as some on PalmTalk will be there. You will not regret it. It's a beautiful place. Yes, expensive but nothing like it elsewhere.
