when we returned for bali we went to ubud for a night.

there was a nice little spa a few doors down from our hotel(artini III) so we

decided to try it.

next morning.time for a swim. our room was right by the pool,luckily.

artini III is not the nicest hotel & a its a bit dated,but the price was right. also it was a bit difficult to find a place on short notice since it was "high season."

the pix got a bit out of order due to the fact that the cameras did not synch perfectly,so its possible this was on the bali to java leg,not the java to bali leg,which means that its going the right way but at the wrong point in the story. :lol:

Andrea and I had a great experience in Ubud. Went to the Monkey Park. I sort of "stirred" the monkeys up a little w/ a large stick and that was a really dumb thing to do. I'll leave it at that. :rage:

ibu oka is one of my favorite restaurants,now they have 3 locations.

we wanted to go to the original one for lunch on our way to our next bali destination,but

wayan said ibu oka I is too crowded so he suggested we go to ibu oka II.

All these places you stay look so amazing and exotic, with such lush gardens. Do you typically reserve everything in advance, doing the research yourself online, do you get recommendations, or do you happen upon places and check in?

we stopped at Padang Bai. its not a big town but it is where you catch the ferry boat to the islands

east of bali. there were small hotels & restos on the beach that looked VERY peaceful & quiet.

not much activity,but the breeze off the ocean felt wonderful!

candi dasa was once quite popular but has fallen out of favor with tourists,somewhat. the reason i

heard most was that the beaches arent as nice since they have eroded due to removal of the offshore

coral reefs for building materials. this practice has since been outlawed.

wayan took us to a really great looking hotel but it wasnt available til the next day so

we found a room at the "pondok bambu" for a night.

I am sure it was Ubud... now I have to look it up :angry: . I am not quite sure what else in the itinerary. But it shouldn't matter... as long as I can see garden without yelling at the kids, I am happy :)
