On a weekday, you can actually take the car in. I usually have a driver when I go there :) and then I just ask him to stop whenever I want to go and see something. The place is too big to take in on foot. I could be there for days....

Paul, when in Jakarta I liked to go to the mini-indonesia complex. Don´t remember the palms but near the Bali section there is an outdoor pavilian where young indonesian girls practice the balinese dances. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen: there are about 50 of them, the teacher is a man and he is in front of them all teaching and they do those coreographies by mimiking him at the same time. The youngest are about 5 and the oldest about 20. The smallest are at the front and there are about 10 in each row and after he shows the steps the balinese music starts and all of them dance in perfect synchronization. It is utterly breathtaking whatching them. Just a tip. I think they practice around 3-4 in the afternoon.
