Kathy,

Thanks. I hope the drool was good. :) The Raphia is planted back by the first shadehouse. This is one of a few main isle's through the nursery.

Wal,

My brother just happen to be walking by, and I asked him to stand in the picture. I'm sure he was thinking it was some dumb palm thing I was doing. But he's cool about it.

Ray,

Your right. There is no sprinkler near this palm. I'm sure it's roots go down deep. I used to pot up my seedlings in this area when I started many years ago. So I threw out pots of seed that did'nt germinate here and this popped up one day. It took me about 3 years to figure it out on what it was.

SunnyFl,

I'm sorry, but the D. ambositrae's are still one-two leaf seedlings. It's going to be a while, I'm afraid.

Don,

Thats nice to hear, I hope you can find some time to swing by. May's a good time.

This is an area where we germinate our Bismarckia palms. We start them in a deep pot, 4"across at the top and 14" deep.

A look at one of two pumps we use to irrigate with.  It's a cat diesel, about 80 hp with a berkly pump. Off to the right, you can see a white pipe going out. Thats the suction line into the pond, which is 6". The pipe coming out towards the right front,(red fitting) is our discharge pipe which is 8" going out.

This flowering tree was done by a friend of mine,Crafton Cliff in Miami. It's a Chorisia speciosa on a Pachira aquatica. The graft was made last year and was just  flowering for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

Jeff - I am in awe sitting here looking at the pictures of your nursery.   I can't imagine what it must be like to come to work every day and see all those palms.   I have a basement bedroom full of palms and grow lights and I tend to them everyday after work and I love it.   Can't imagine what I would do with acres of palms.  Great photos.

Jeff and Clayton,

Re the Wodyetia X Veitchia, any flowers?  Seeds?  I haven't heard of viable seeds from the cross but anticipate they should appear.  You guys in Australia would know best on this.  Also, re: Wodyetia crossed with other Veitchia, it wouldn't appear that there's any reason it couldn't be done.
