Free Dioon spinulosums

Josh

Recommended Posts

I have three spinulosums that need to go. Two are kinda large and need to be dug up. They're about 4-5 feet tall, so they could be easily had with a shovel. The third is in a pot. I also have a sago sp in a 3gal. pot. Plus I have a nice size Zamia furfuracea in the ground. Just send me a message if you're interested. They are all free!!! They're located in Jupiter Farms...

These are still availble. The dioons are really nice healthy looking plants. I'm surprised no one has jumped on these...

I hope they don't get "dumped". If I had one of those Star Trek transporter thingies, I would beam over from California and rescue them. Oh wait, I could actually just beam the Dioons over to here, and wouldn't need to go in person. Seriously though, are spinulosums so common in FL that no one wants this sweet deal? Perhaps a local public garden or park would want a donation? What about contacting a garden club or finding a younger horticulture student, with the energy to dig but not the $$$ to buy cycads? I wish I had been exposed to cycads and palms when I was in my 20s. I would have an impressive collection by now. You could always try posting in the garden or free section on craigslist.org. Good luck and I hope you find a home for your critter.

I would dig them up for whomever is interested. They're really easy to dig and move. The large zamia was just dug up and placed curbside. It's about 20 years old too. Maybe someone driving by will take it... It would be nice to donate, but I'm not sure a garden club would even want them....

Hi Jerry,

They're still availble. I can post some photos tomorrow, if you want to see what they look like?

The zamia furfuracea is already gone.
