With that view, how could you leave??? I guess that is what I miss at my place, being 35km from the coast, we don't get ocean view. Although, 5 acres with ocean view?? I don't think that is quite possible.

I also have more photos but Paul hasn't gotten to that part of the trip yet. In the meantime, here's one of my favorite photos. We had just arrived in Manuel Antonio and were eating a late lunch.

Paul's happy face :)

Thanks Paul and Jeff for posting your photos and allowing folks like me to tag along vicariously on your adventure. Thanks also for keeping the shorts on.

The palm you saw so frequently in Braulio Carillo – shown in the numerous photos in Post 65 – looks like Pholidostachys pulchra. I shadowed Andrew Henderson when we took this same walk during the 2008 biennial and came away with that name for the trees in the photos posted below. These aren't the best photos in the world, but they're good enough to see that these are the same trees as shown in Post 65. Andrew wrote up a description of the palms we saw on that trail and described P. pulchra as follows: “medium, stems reddish-brown, pinnate leaves, spicate inflorescence with yellowish fruits.” I remember Andrew cuing us to look for the reddish petioles to help with the identification.
