the 1st few days we stayed in san jose.

the compound made me feel like i was in "scarface" & i kept expecting to see al pacino.

post-206-083261000 1297142014_thumb.jpg

that day we took a drive up the volcano & on the way we stopped for our

1st taste of the local cuisine.

post-206-074365100 1297142026_thumb.jpg

pork chop,beans & rice,& plantains.really hardy & good in that "down-home" way.

post-206-038300000 1297142039_thumb.jpg

plantains with local cheese.looks strange but it was really tasty.

tortilla(they were awesome) with sour cream.

post-206-075632700 1297142458_thumb.jpg

jes & jeff chattin' it up.

we passed alot of coffee plantations on the way up the mountain.

post-206-033499600 1297142476_thumb.jpg

the volcano was fogged in so we went to plan B & headed for a private botanical garden/hotel in the area.

by the time we got there the garden was not gonna be open for much longer when we got there so we headed to a waterfall that was close by.

post-206-073198700 1297142484_thumb.jpg

jes couldnt resist checking FB on the hotels free internet in the lobby.

Dewd! I miss hanging out with you guys! You and Jessie are welcome back anytime. :)

Here are a few of my waterfall photos...

Robert next to the waterfall - My friends Robert and Greg were at the tail end of their Costa Rica visit and they returned home a couple days after Paul and Jes arrived. In the meantime, we all got to spend a couple days together in San Jose.

Paul, that's funny that you mentioned Scarface! Some other people that have stayed at the house call it the "Scarface House". I took some new photos of the place a few days after you guys left (yes I drove BACK to San Jose the day after you guys went home).

We recently had some painting and general cleaning completed as we are getting ready to start renting the house soon. I took a few photos after the work was done to use for advertising.

I think they are Wal. I want to remove them and plant some Roystonea oleracea along that section of the wall.

that night the whole gang went to a restaurant that had an awesome view of san jose.

it felt like we were right on the edge of a cliff--because we were.i guess that happens

alot in costa rica.

you can see from the previous shot that it was fairly cool at night since we all had on

As wonderful as the palm bicentennial was, there is nothing like seeing a place through the eyes of a local. Looks like a great trip. Even if there were no palms, which of course there were, weren't there?
