That's quite a strip!!

Oakley, California

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

Wow!  Very impressive photographs.  I wonder how old those babys are?  Some pretty tall Washingtonias in the back ground too!

According to historic records those CIDP's were planted in 1896  :o  They are easily 60' tall.  Notice the fire damage to some of the trees.  There have been several wild fires in the park yet these giants survive.

Here are more photos :

You can see fire damage :

What is the fan palm with the yellow fruit. Is that a Chinese Fan.

Nice Pics, I just spotted a Nice Jub in South Pasadena a little bigger than that one. There are a lot of nice Palms in LA you just have to look. With so many Washies they get lost in the mix.

Ed, I think that's Brahea edulis?  Not positive though I can't see the trunk.

Aw, Happ!

You beat me to it!

You've seen those Elysian Park palms if you've seen any movie about LA Police Academy (comic or otherwise), and yeah, even though I've seen them before, that sheer mass is overwhelming.

Bravo to the designer, who, I suspect, is long-dead . . . .

Yum! Palm Porn! :P

I love the CIDP - except the transplants here they never water and end up with 10 cm fronds or just cark and they leave the trunks...........

Love that Jub.

I even love the Washies.

Cheers,
