I have one that was planted as a two year old seedling eight years ago.It is painfully slow.It has larger leaves now but still has no trunk.I do feel that is about to make that great leap Copernicias are known for.

I am in Guatemala and my palm rarely experiences temps lower than the mid 60s.It would be even slower in California.

El Oasis - beach garden, distinct wet/dry season ,year round 20-38c

Las Heliconias - jungle garden ,800m elevation,150+ inches rainfall, year round 15-28c

Here is our specimen, about 7ft tall. It was planted in summer 1994. It seems to be the single trunk form, need to fnd a clustering one.

My Copernicia glabrescens var. glabrescens was barely hanging on when I moved. It was potted and rooted in the ground. I had to cut a pretty big root to move it with me. Once I planted in ground I can’t believe how fast it has grown. Would not classify as slow by any means. Has three suckers starting at the old leaf bases. I planted in ground June 2019 and March 2022 is the last picture. Cold has never bothered it.

I also have one of these Copernicia clumpers planted in the ground. Under desert conditions, I have to say it's been a slow grower for me.

Just over three years in the ground and has inflorescence. Can’t believe how easy once in the ground. Want to add more Copernicia species in my yard!

After hurricane Ian 80mph with gust to 100mph in September, tropical storm Nicole in November, Christmas strong winds with 4 days of highs not above 55, lows around 30-32….Seems like nothing can stop it, setting seed now and starting to push new growth. See what this year brings! Forgot to say the flowers have a very heavy scent, kept picking it up and when I got closer amazed what a pleasant scent!
