Don, cane toads have been rampant here for so long now. It is good to see some predatory action around the place...generally their main predator has been humans! A friend's dog ate one a couple of years ago...they got the toad out of his mouth but he had excreted some venom and it was too late for the dog...he died a very horrible death.

This bird isn't much larger than a hummingbird and plentiful in western Puerto Rico. It is called the Puerto Rican Toady or San Pedrito. They make nests by digging holes in vertical exposed dirt such as the side of roads at the bottom of hills. They seem to like a spot near this rainbow eucalyptus across from our house. They eat bugs like mosquitoes so are useful as well as cute. I've really enjoyed this thread-keep it up!

These otters show up in the lake for a snack every few months. They hang around for a few hours swimming & slinging fish up on the bank. They really aren't as cuddly as they look. As I tried to get closer they bared their teeth & growled. Check out the dentures on these guys! :bemused:
