i just ask because len seems to be really interested in going there.

what are the official languages? what is the exchange rate like to usd?

do they have sushi bars there? i could go on & on...

iceland air

you have to go to iceland first than take the domestic airline to greenland

it takes about 8 hours to get there by way of seattle

i recommend you look at this web site and you will have all the info : http://www.airiceland.is/

in greenland they speak greenlandic

in iceland they speak icelandic

the exchange is good (I can be snark too)

they have sushi but the thing to try is the icelandic lamb

the women in iceland are blonde tall and beautiful (yes ALL of them )

glad I was able to help you

Kim-

the children are icelandic - not greenlandic

greenlandic people look like native americans from Alaska

the kids were wonderful

see the photo of the church, when I was inside at the lookout at the top a group of local kids

age 4-6 came in. there were about 40 of them jumping for joy looking at the city.

it was a special moment

why the vests ?

in iceland there are 10 million rules

must be a rule to keep them safe if one of them runs in the street so they dont get hit

I remember years back seeing - I mean reading - a Playboy with a feature on Icelandic woman. I would agree with you.

Paul,

Since Greenland is part of Denmark it is uses the Krone since the Danes were smart enough to opt out of the Euro. And, Iceland has the Krona.

So, are these your pics?

What were you doing in Iceland and Greenland, besides palm hunting?

Matt-

yes they are my photos.

I went there because it is a trippy place and I love the arctic

Well the only palms you might find on Greenland are fossilesed ones from when that place had a much nicer climate millions of years ago.

That looks fantastic! I've been keen on seeing places like this. More so the Antarctic. Would love to retrace the path of Shackleton's men. But the Arctic would rock as well.

Definitely too cold to live, but to visit would be fascinating. Have never visited Greenland, but have been to Iceland many years ago. And a few years ago we flew to Longyearbyen on Spitsbergen, the northernmost airport in the world that you can fly to on a commercial jet. 800 miles from the North Pole and as far north as the northernmost point of Greenland. Sunrise is on April 20th and sunset on August 25th. Nonstop daylight for more than four months. That's the good news. The bad news is that sunset is on October 26th. And the sun doesn't rise above the horizon until February 16th again.

Well if I would live in a hot tropical climate I probably would spend hollidays in colder places, even Iceland. But I am from a part of the world where its mostely cold and misserable weather for months. So for me a hollidays means escaping the cold.

And then there are lots of warm/tropical parts of the world where travelling is much cheaper then back home, and lots of nice plants are found and where the sun is generous when its misserable cold back home...
