Here's a bizarre, slighty out of focus aspect of the magnifica...it bleeds...

2. Hyphanae - unlike latania, bismarckia, borassus, the emerging new leaf is already divided

Great thread.

A few of mine:

Snow White and the two dwarfs:

Gileno, what are the palms in these photos? Looks like a J. magnifica, but I am a mere "seedling".

And yours, as well, Tropico.

Great photos everyone. I LOVE this thread! I hope everyone adds more photos. Will add some of my own when it stops pouring.

Normanbya new leaf. Is the colouring normal or can I claim it to be a variegated variety ?

I didn't know they have red new growth.... Nice :). Mine is dying :(. Not sure why.... just steadily declining. I have repotted it to a more well drained mix and still no change... So, I guess whether it will make it or it won't :(.

Very colourful garden, Daryl... seemed to appreciate all the rain

Regards, Ari :)

215 is alive, nice Daz.

I saw this palm in person last Friday, it's getting bigger and bolder. Dear Bill and other interested parties, this is looking terrific, for clump of colour, it is unmatched.

Ari- That chambeyronia looks great! How tall is the palm? How much trunk does it have already?

I also have a Ptychosperma Waitianum and it is finally showing some color on its new leaves

The jury is still out on wether this is a variegated licuala grandis ( the pattern looks a bit like nutrient deficiency but then again the white follows the segments on the leaves) but for the 2 or so years I've had it this patternhas been consistent on the leaves. Its actually a pretty robust grower and the variegated parts don't deteriorate early like in some variegated palms

Anyway it puts out a really good show-- the leaves almost look like they are glowing.

Gene, I think you can say that the variegated is there to stay by now... It is very unusual variegation though...

About the C. macrocarpa... I will have to check it out how much trunk it actually has. It is huge though, at least 3.5-4m now... in full sun because it outgrew the temporary shade I had for it...

Regards, Ari :)

With all of this rain we keep getting, just about every day is a 'new leaf day' lately. Although the temperatures are cooler than average, the rain makes up for it and none of the palms seem to mind!

Here's a few more from today...
