After going mostly uphill all afternoon, the crowd began the trek downhill after visiting the studio area, down more than 500 steps (or was it 900?) through the welcome shade, coming out at the top of the boulders seen in my earlier photos by the pond...

...and back to where we started near the entrance, where Paula Ferguson takes a break on the curb.

BS Man about Palms

Some of these fantastic creatures bear an amazing resemblance to some of the IPS visitors. I'll leave you to guess who is who.

How long would it take to travel from Copacabana out to the garden? We'll be in Rio in a couple of weeks, but won't have a car, so we'd need to take a cab.

Hi Justin,

Sítio Burle Marx is located in Guaratiba, South Zone, I guess some 40 Km from Copacabana, in the same direction to Barra and Recreio dos Bandeirantes. It is not open to the general public though and you should try to make an appointment for a visit directly at their website. In case you don't get a positive answer, try to e-mail the Director Robério Dias (roberiodias@gmail.com) and you can mention my name and also the IPS.

These photos from Alan (avb) are very nice too. I'll try to upload a few of mine this weekend...
