After a great lunch at Colombo Restaurant, which was established 100 years ago, we headed to Sugar Loaf Mountain for some great views of Rio.

Spectacular, love the different ocean scenes with harbour, ocean beach, small bay. Did you use the camera timer function a lot Kathryn ?

Kathryn,

Your night out on the town looks like Gileno took you to Lapa. I have spent a few nights there over the years and had a few good times. Rio has a lot of unique places.

I really like all your people pictures.

The park around the avenue in posts 77 and 78 is a master work of Burle Marx and is all land fill. This area had the ocean up to the buildings of the city before it was filled in, thus the name Aterro, landfill in Portuguese. When I visited the place for the first time in 1972 the trees were still very small. It is nice to see how they have matured and the vision of Burle Marx was so great with his landscapes. Rio is marked by him all over.

Kathryn, your pictures are great. Here I am with one of my very favorites, the Bismarckia, along the driveway on Jill's ranch.

I've never used the timer, but I do know how. :) There were plenty of people around more than willing to take photos of others - even strangers.

It was great to see you again in Rio. Bismarckia palms are one of my favorites. Unfortunately they don't do so well in the New Orleans area.

That's about all I have. Craig and I decided to skip the last day - our anniversary was coming up and we decided to have a day in Brazil together. We had a great day at the beach and dinner at the Japanese restaurant near the hotel.

I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures from others.

We did miss you the last night at Jill's Place. But believe me, I know about anniversaries! We celebrated our 34th on the day we left Rio!

Here are two more photos taken at the Welcome Dinner. President, Wife and Son.

Beautiful flower pictures Alberto! I only got some close-up pictures because my camera battery was running low and I wanted to save some juice for Sugar Loaf.

After all these years talking online, it was great to finally meet Gileno. We really enjoyed hanging out with all the Brazilians at the biennial. Here is Alberto and his wife Nellie and Gileno on the right.

Wow,Kathryn. You both satisfied me by enabling me to see some of the group's adventures there, and at the same time made me ever so sorry that I had to miss this one because of schedule conflicts and family situations.

Enjoying your pics Kathy. Nothing like some of these hybrid Mussaendas to color up a palm garden!
