Malware websites

A couple of times in the last few weeks, I've had one of those "Get me out of here!" warning pages using Google Chrome when opening a topic on PalmTalk. On both occasions the same website has been highlighted as hosting malware - www.arbolesornamentales.com. This is the same the problem that beset Cory's website a while back.

CYCAD CRAZY!!!! in TROPICAL LOOKING PLANTS - Other Than Palms is the topic causing problems. Looking at the topic content, I can't see any externally hosted images from www.arbolesornamentales.com or avatars, so I've no idea how this site is being linked.

John,

Will you please check out the other links in that thread. I don't have Chrome installed. There are some links in the signatures or elsewhere in that thread. One of these may be the culprit and/or tied to the offending www.arbolesornamentales.com site. I'm not sure how Chrome reports. It may be that a link to a site that itself would generate a report due to a "bad" link, would be enough.

If I recall correctly, just the link to Corey's site generated the report. It wasn't necessary to actually click on it.

As always, any of you guys running unpatched versions of Windows or IE, with anti-virus/malware that isn't up to date, run the risk of infection.

John, it's Palmfreek's avatar image. See thumbnail below...

Thanks Mats,

I'll delete the avatar and notify Palmfreek.

This is the diagnostic I get from Google.
