I was at Phil's this last weekend and there's tons of stuff. Seriously, the walkways are bursting with plants. I saw some more Copenicia macroglossa in 5 gallons. Those boxed Royals are huge! Burretiokenia grandiflora, Brahea decumbens, Ravenea xerophylla, Dypsis onilahensis weeping, huge 20 gal Dypsis pembana, Rhapis hybrids, huge Beccariophoenix, Cycad heaven, etc. I'll be there early next week, come say "hi".

Group,

I do hope a lot of you come. It's an unbelievable amount of work preparing and pulling off this event. Just by itself, imagine the job of preparing food for four to five hundred people. It requires at least 20 to 25 people to make it all happen, and two very long days at that. So, please come visit us. We appreciate your support and patronage.

Something similar happening here on Sunday 25th April, 2010. The Brisbane PACSOA group getting together at the Kraa nursery for a look see and a purchase or two. A portion of the ratpack will be there and I'll try and remember to take the camera.

This is not a huge annual event like yours but it is interesting to note that there's a similar PRA occurring from across the waves on the same day.

Joe,

Maybe this one got lost in the shuffle. Phil's got so many plants you never know what's hiding in the inner belly of Jungle Music. I only remember walking by this 15 gallon sitting on the ground near table 5, so maybe it's the only one left. Not sure. I just remember thinking, ooohhhhhh, nice.

We're going to have a nice selection of some unusual companion plants. A few I like are a totally black colored Ti that I think has good promise for year round growth here in So Cal. Also, we'll have an unusual Philodendron that I haven't had available for years. Unfortunately, I don't have the latin name for it, but it's very unusual rosette type and would be a nice addition to any garden. We have some nice good sized ferns and really nice clustering red Nerogelias (Bromeliads) that can take our coastal sun. They have small crowns of leaves individually, but a gorgeous appearance when you get about 20 heads. I had these last year and people gobbled em up and love them. Although not as extensive as Jeff's selection back in FL, we'll have some colorful Croton as well. If you like Alocasia, I am going to have a nice dwarf species that have the typical big leaves but never get over 3 feet. Also about 6 species of cold hardy Heliconia including the lobster claw rostrata. I do have a few tall Schizilobium outside in full sun, a great plant for fine filtered light. Although not a succulent grower, I'll have a few cactus surprises in blossom and some Epidendrum orchids. Dracena draco and Dasylirium will also make an appearance. We might have a few Red Congo's left as well. Rare cycads? Of course. So, if you like more than palms, visit us.

Group,

I apologize that I haven't posted a bunch of photos. I've just been too busy getting ready. I'm up early now doing last minute preparations.

Like I said above, we've got some very cool companion plants that I think everyone will love. We also have a great selection of different sizes of Roystonea, Bismarckia, Dypsis, Chambeyronia, Kentiopsis, some cool Phoenix rupicola, beautiful Macrozamia, Howea belmoreana, Hedyscepe, unbelievable Encephalartos and Dioons, tropical Zamias, etc. etc. Remember, we're growing about 1000 different species, all sizes.

The weather is fantastic. The catering/food is all set up.

All I need now is for all of you to visit us. Hope to see you.

Even though we were pretty busy, one of the staff members took a few photos. They were meant to be more of the event than of plants. I'll show a few in this post and a few more.

Bill, I am glad you ended up with that Laccospadix! After I drove away, I debated in my head to turn around and go get it. Rusty had offered that to me, early that morning. That is a rare find, at that size! Good growing Rusty.:drool:

Carlos, I found one more Laccospadix australasica in a citrus (tall 3 gallon) at the end of the day on Sunday. I thought of you. It was burried under some spiney Pandanus that no one had bothered to look under for a long time I'm sure. It still looked really good. I might have to snatch that one up if someone doesn't buy it this week. If anyone's interested in this hard to find plant I set it up on table #1.

Yeh that looks like perrieri Bill, I had one once with similar twin growth in fact. Lost it back in the drought days along with many others. Add some dialog and this thread should have made it to the main zone in my opinion, which is worth about tuppence halfpenny these days.
