Another great travel thread in the works. Glad to see the sun came out for you. Those monkeys looked evil, but that flying fox/bat thing is cute as button.

I'm also enjoying the Cocothrinax and Hyophorbes.

Between work and family, I haven't had much time for palms at all. My "problem" with PalmTalk is I once I come here I get stuck for hours! I hope to make it to the next PSSC event in March, and might bring a friend I'm getting into palms.

this temple had been buried by an earthquake & only re-discovered in the late 19th or early 20th century.

it had that 'new temple" smell.

Bali10-1634.jpg

having a tour guide means you have to find out what makes him tick.

its more fun that way.

glad yer enjoying it!

i started going soon after the kuta bombing in 2000 & the tourism industry was nearly wiped-out,so that meant empty hotels & no need for reservations.

i am still doing it this way but as tourism rebounds its getting harder to book stuff "on the fly." i suppose the best way is to just google bali hotels till ya find some ya like.some have an "internet discount," but if you try & book in person you can always "haggle."

good luck! feel free to pm me if you have any questions!
