Paul, Thank you for including us in your great journey. Can you tell me (1) exactly where Bali is located and (2)is the humidity level similar to what you experienced in Florida? More pictures, please!

bubba bali is roughly east of australia & south of the phillipines(near the equator). humidity levels were a bit more than i experienced during the 1st part of floriduh trip.

Did you see bikes with the whole family on them?? Like mum at the back with a baby on her lap, dad riding with a kid in front of him on the fuel tank?? LOL. I know it is very dangerous, but funny nonetheless... When I used to live there, when I was growing up, we didn't think it was a problem...

Regards, Ari :)

after a looong walk in mid-day tropical sun we found the padang retsaurant.

kind of primitive,i was definitely thinking about all the GI parasites i could get.

Bali10-1144.jpg

i asked them to bring us a few things & they brought out what seemed like everything they had

but i couldnt make them stop,so we just ate as much as we could.

i didnt know what alot of it was but i ate it anyways, even the lung.

Bali10-1147.jpg

jess was a little scared but ate her share & enjoyed it quite a bit.the stand-out dish was thin slices of spicy beef fried to a crispity perfection called "deng-deng."

this place beats my previous fave padang restaurant in sanur!

that night we decided to check out a japanese restaurant that was close to the hotel.

i snapped some atmosphere shots on the way of the hotel garden.

Bali10-1154.jpg

"why is there a giant glowing egg with a funnel on its head next to me?"

Bali10-1158.jpg

the sushi place was excellent! amazingly fresh fish.

Bali10-1155.jpg

the slabs of tuna were incredible & prices were cheap compared to what we'd pay in the USA.

definitely one of the most memorable meals of the trip.

i guess only "bule" chew gum.

Bali10-1161.jpg

"mmmm salmon flavored!"

Bali10-1165.jpg

the next day it rained alot (again) & we were advised against going to the beach.

that afternoon we journeyed to uluwatu, the famous "cliff temple." here you see delonix regia in flower from the stairs leading to the

temple(why do these places always have so many stairs?).

Bali10-1208.jpg

here i am wondering how close to the EDGE of THE CLIFF i was since i removed my glasses so they wouldnt be stolen

by evil monkeys.not too blind to notice that i was wearing a sarong, tho.

Bali10-1211.jpg

due south is the northwest coast of australia.

Bali10-1214.jpg

jess rocks the sarong her mom let her borrow from the 70s.

I'm sure you've been anxiously awaiting my comments on your thread, but I figure I'll wait until the end so I don't post right in the middle and break up your thread. How does that sound?

Feet are an important part of any trip.

Paul,

I enjoyed a lot the trip so far. I like that you show the food where you are. I always figured that food was one of the most important part of any trip. It can be enjoyable, ok, or deadly. BTW, here in Brazil it is common to make shakes from avocados.

the place stays busy till late.

Bali10-1444.jpg

at closing time after the main dining room has cleared-out they just roll shut the big metal doors & leave the folks still drinking on the front patio to their own devices.
