A close-up of a leaf. This cycad generally holds only 3-maybe 6 leaves at a time. Out my group, one has a red emergent new leaf each time.

Jeff, from what I've seen/read, the Skinneri has a "smooth" leaf while the Nuerophyllidia (sp) has those ridges...?

Bill,

You did not do your homework, hmmm. :P  Both of these species have corrugated leaves. A couple of things seperate these apart. Z. skinneri holds fewer leaves and the leaflet is generally much larger than Zamia neurophyllidia. When you come to visit me, we will have Zamia class 101. :D

Bobby,

I do have plenty of Bottle palms and would certainly look forward to a visit from you next spring and to any others that pass through our area. Maybe we can organize a visit from Ray from Tampa and a few others for a get- together, maybe a bar-b-que.

Jeff,

that would be awesome... btw.. have you or anyone heard from Ray??? I'm sure he's back from his honeymoon by now...

Dear Jeff  :)

your garden looks like a tropical botanical

garden with all the agave,panchypodium

of madagascar,cycas are all terrefic..

And your pet Kona has blown me away.

since i love all the bull species_Pug,Bull dog,

Boxers & bull mastifis.

And now to matty_dear friend i do not know about

u.s vet laws, but cropping of ears, tails and growth

harmone steroids shots are quite okay in india &

asia.because some species of dogs like_

Doberman pincher,boxers,great danes are all

subject to the above said treatment.this make

the dog worhty of winning prize in competitions.

and also for breeding good champion blood-line.

And as for the bull master's head comment i did

not joke_Its reality even though i know you all

dont like it !  :)

Love,

Kris.

Wow Jeff, I can't believe I never saw this thread untill just now.  Thanks for the amazing garden pics.  Just when I start to get happy with mine then I get a glimpse of what I wish I had.  Looks like I'm in the wrong line of business, guess I'll have to open me up a nursery so I can get a hold of the nice plants of course then I would have to then get a hold of the property and last but not least your climate.  How many different species of palms and cycads do you have anyway?

Jeff,

An amazing amount of work and growth in such a short time. (Short for a palm garden anyway)

I just can't get enough of those Satakentias.

Dear Dave B  :)

thanks for that prompt reply & Info...

Iam glad to hear this, since here one

occassion i met a boxer(Albino type),

pure white in color and its a male.

my my it was in the size of 3 of my

boxers put together.but by then my

dogs have all crossed the 6 to 8 months

age limit for any harmone shots to be

administered.

since we are vegeterians we also fed our

dogs with only veg.hence they appear bit

week & slim. :(

i.e boxer appearing as though they are bull

mastif breed.i think now all do understand

what i mean ?

Love,

Kris.

Jeff,

Pachypodium lamerei has dark green leaves.  P. geayi has lighter green leaves and often has a reddish mid rib, especially when younger.

My one and only Copernicia cowellii. This has been planted now approx. 2 years now and I'm thrilled that it's growing so well, although very slow. When this palm became available a few years ago, everyone assumed it could not grow here. Supposedly it comes from an area that is rich in nickel, and therefore would be hard to duplicate here in the landscape.
