Jan. 2, 2010- Wild Animal Park,Ca.-85F. Best in Florida was Ft. Lauderdale at 66F. It is cold in Fl.!

Bubba,

I moved to Fort Lauderdale from San Francisco in 1980. I remember going by the beach with temperatures like today and it had a lot of white snow birds strutting around. The last thing I would do with such a cold spell was go in to the beach. I also used to work early morning shift at MIA when I was with Western Airlines. I started work at 5 AM and met the flight from LAX which came in around 6 AM. Some mornings well out on the ramp waiting for the plane to pull up to the gate I thought I was going to freeze. I used to drive the container loaders that pull the cargo off the plane.

According to W-underground the high in my zipcode is 60.8F at 3pm. Relative humidity is 9%(!?!?!?) and dewpoint is 2F. Oh, come on, this is supposed to be wet blanket soggy Florida.

EDIT: Okay, weather.com says it's 55F with 40% humidity - more like it for humidity. What gives with some of these forecasters?

Southern Calif. and Arizona seem to be the only places with warm weather in the USA. No warmth in N. Calif. as I've had 40's at night and low 50's during the day for the past week. A gental east breeze is blowing the fog from the central valley over the Diablo hills into my valley and it's very chilly. I'll take the fog though, as it keeps the night time temps up. If it were clear I would be getting frost every night this time of the year. The chill seems to bother me more than the palms.

I hate to even post today's temps considering the horrible freeze in Texas & Florida. Not much change from yesterday w/ several cities over 80F\ 26.6C

As usual, the Wild Animal Pk was the warm spot: 85F\ 29.4C. Now I know why the folks at the San Diego zoo selected Rancho San Pasqual for their other zoo.

From the NWS San Diego:

TODAY MARKED THE SIXTH CONSECUTIVE DAY THE NATIONS HIGH OCCURRED IN

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THERE WERE FOUR WINNERS TODAY: NORTH

ISLAND...CORONA...SAN MARCOS AND SANTEE ALL REACHED 78 DEGREES.

CHANCES ARE GOOD THAT THE STREAK WILL CONTINUE SUNDAY AND MONDAY.

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT AND LOW LEVEL OFFSHORE FLOW WILL CONTINUE

THROUGH MONDAY. A WEAK TROUGH WILL BRING PASSING HIGH CLOUDS AT

TIMES

What's wierd is they also mentioned the 85F at the Wild Animal Park but didn't include it in the dialogue above.

I thought it was strange that many stations reported exact same temps as yesterday in the earlier 5:30PM San Diego data [esp since there were more clouds today]. And the Wild Animal Pk is missing on the updated info. Santa Ana at 79F\ 26.1C may have been the warmest in the state. Weatherman fatigue!

Jan. 10,2010-Key West-52F! You got to be kidding me! I saw they had a low this morning of 42F, which is one degree over the all-time low of 41F! Most of South Florida made it to 50F.(Wow!). However, no freezing temperature yet. It starts the warm up today and I am certain that we shall see the extensive damage caused by such long-term cold on the tropicals.
