GOT FOXTAIL?

I started germinating this batch of Wodyetia bifurcata seeds in Mar '09!

They'll be trunkin' soon! :floor:

Two Ravenea rivularis's and a Spindle in the background...

I got these seven Spindles for $1ea back in Spring '09

Those are XMAS palms in the background that were also $1ea

The Spindles have actually doubled in size and 'greened' up. The foliage was orangish and speckled when I got them...

Ray.

I have seen many a palm garden start off like yours. The results are a house surrounded by palms (and usually many other kinds of plants) which is often visited by palm societies! You must give free palms (Woodies?) to neighbors to compleate the metamorphis.

A theme that runs through gardens like your is thriftyness. Plants are in general very easy to propigate especilly when they are liberated from another garden, bromiliads for example. Palms too can be free or almost free, even rare ones. No doubt you have shopped for and found the good stuff. Palm society auctions are good that way. Palm sales too are a great source. Then you hook up with someone like Kingfish and have a constant supply.

When you come down be sure to stop by for some freebies!

This area is just 4 years old. Some of the plants are much older. Grew it all myself.

Howea forsteriana

Spring '09

Two 3gal & one 1gal

Keith, next time your out here, that little one on the left has got your name on it.

I plan on putting those landscape stones around the oak to replace that trussle wood, and it'll be in the way...

It's already sun hardened for like 3 or 4 'direct' hrs.

NOT FOR INSIDE OK? :) and it's yours.

Great job Ray. I like how you have a mix of small and larger palms in your landscape. Are you going for the jungle look or the botanical gardens look?

'ello Laura.

No real plan or approach to my plantings.

I just dig and plant where ever! :)

Unless of course, I'm trying to 'block' something or other...

I guess I'm going with the JungleLook. Once things get established, I can work on some pathways...

Thanks again to all for stoppin' in...

Thanks for that fast reply. I am trying to set out the balance of my yard as I have only done the front yard and perimeter plantings and was looking for ideas.
