Has PalmTalk been hacked??

It's unfortunate that this stuff is necessary. But as the recent episode has illustrated, any security that can make it harder for the hackers is a friend of mine. It's too bad that some of it causes problems such as this for some members.

Surely there is a better solution than to have a forum so secure that it is impossible to use. Actually I dont believe this stupid DNS error on login is security related, it is a fault in the software or server.

Nigel,

If you read this thread, you will learn that it has been established that a few members using dynamic IPs (or other multiple addresses) have trouble at times when using the "remember me" function. We could easily turn off the "Stronghold Cookie" security feature and be done with the problem. But we have determined that since it affects only 1-2% of members, the relaxed security is not worth it. And those with occasional problems need only to log off and on each time in such a way that no cookies are retained. A very easy process.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.

Nigel I am the most non computer friendly person on the planet but I have no problems at all entering this site. I just dont log out and leave remember me box ticked. I just have to click on the palm icon on the computer screen and it brings me straight in here. Sometimes being a blonde bimbo is a definate advantage.

And I still dont know what cookies are or where to find them to delete them and please nobody tell me or I will try it and get flustered and annoyed at myself. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

I am so glad I read this before checking my email. I had a look at the object in question and while I thought someone's english needs improving, I would have fallen for it , hook, line and sinker. Dean, you do a good job as moderator for IPS and this kind of violation really gets my blood boiling. I ask this...dont't these 'richard heads' have anything better to do than interfere with a nice little site that minds it own business and harms nobody. If the guilty party is reading this, get a life idiot. (and a job too)
