Dude. Awesome pictures. I have got to get down there again.

However, You gotta put IDs on your pictures. I know some (or most) of them, but some tropical palms look different in a subtropical setting and I can't figure out what some of these are. Can you help

Quite a collection of nice photos thanks for posting.  The San Diego Zoo in my mind is one of the best places to see a wonderful palm and cycad collection.  I hear they have animals there too, at least thats what I'm told but not sure, I only seem to notice the palms.

Thanks guys! There is too many plants too list it takes alot of time. If you want an ID on any plant just let me know. Also around here we like to play the guessing game. As far as the animals go I'll post shots of them in a thread in the palapa sometime this weekend.

I'm glad I made your day Kris. They do have one of the best cycad collections here. Between the zoo and the wild animal park they have quite an impressive collection of palms n' cycads. Two of my favorite plants in the world!!

Hi Dave,

Nice pics! I saw that Bismarkia pictured above at the Zoo this weekend. Impressive! The picture below does not do it justice as to the size. During your visit, did you see the Caryota gigas (Thai Mountain Giant)? I posted the pic yesterday.

Very impressive pictures! Great to see the Cycas, but I'm also glad you included the Bismarckia. That's always my favorite.

Thanks Dave!

Just awsome!! If I did'nt know any better, I would think I was somewhere in Hawaii or South Florida. So, the rumors are not true about you guys out there can only grow about 10 species of palms.  LOL :D   Only kidding guys. What a beautiful garden and zoo. This reminds me, if anyone ever comes to South Florida, and has some time to spend, our Metro Zoo in Miami is loaded with big kool palms. The South Florida chapter  consistantly is planting and fertilizing the collection there and it would be worth while to make a visit there.

Great photos Dave! I would have a hard time justifying that the it's more of a zoological garden than a botanical garden.  I'm impressed with the variety of palms.
