In April 2009, i went with some friends to the discovery of the High Mataroni River in French Guiana. A unique botanical experience recounted in an article in the french magazine "Le Palmier" in June 2009. An adventure you can imagine, full of botanical discoveries.

You will find on the site Tipalm.fr, at http://www.tipalm.fr/pages/mataroni.html, many pictures of this expedition.

You can also download the article (in french), made available on this page, courtesy of the Association des Fous de Palmiers.

WOW! Thank you for sharing those pictures!!  Manicaria saccifera is one of my favorite palms and coming across new photos of them is such a rare occasion!! I enjoyed the "unusual" syagrus, geonoma, bactris, and astrocaryum species too! Do you have any further information about them?

I'm always up for learning new things!
