Some palm pictures from the deep south ...

Hi!

Here are some pictures of palms & tree ferns growing in the garden of Frédy and Jean-Claude, two friends of mine. The property is located in Cimo (a small village in southern Switzerland), close to the Lago Maggiore, a lake shared by Ticino (Switzerland) and Italy. I think the idea to call this property "Casa Amazonia" is not a bad idea ... I hope you like the pictures!

Let' s start with Butia capitata, Cycas revoluta, and some Dicksonia antarctica leaves.

Great pictures and a wonderful garden! Many, many years ago (this is years before they built the Gotthard tunnel so you know this is going way back....) I spent a lot of time around Lago Maggiore, Como and Garda and I still remember many of those places fondly. We (my parents, my sister and I) drove from Sweden every summer, and descending from the barren Alps into the beautiful and lush country in southern Switzerland and northern Italy had a lasting impact on me. Maybe part of the reason why I'm growing all these palms now.... :)

Aloha from Hawaii to Lago Maggiore!

Suisse's an amazing place.  They speak something like four or five different languages, yet they manage to get along.  We here could learn a thing or two about that . . . .
