No-one's had a go, so I'll give you the answers. Luckily most were labelled, so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about.

1. Verschaffeltia splendida

2. Licuala ramsayi

3. Pritchardia maideniana

4. Linospadix "Mount lewis"

5. Sabal princeps

6. Licuala grandis

7. Livistona ? (unlabelled)

8. Livistona inermis

9. Chambeyronia? (unlabelled)

10. Carpentaria acuminata

Hi Phil,

#6 = Licuala peltata

#7 = Livistona decora

#8 = Livistona fulva

Some of these were mis-labelled. Never trust the signs..LOL!

Daryl.

Does anyone know this one? It looks like Livistona australis, but I'm not sure.

The Royal Botanic Garden is a tremendous garden.  That it is located and has survived so close to the urban center makes it that much more remarkable.

How did you dig up this old thread, Ray?

One of my flops, actually; no-one had a go. But as Daryl pointd out, some of my answers were wrong anyway thanks to incorrect labelling.

Originally the gardens were a vegetable garden for the new colony in Sydney (1788-1814 or thereabouts), then a private parkland for the Governor, then eventually a public garden.

Philip,

I was going through some threads missed while I was ill.  You miss a ton of stuff in a short time on this forum.

Philip,

Some how I also missed this nice tour of the gardens. Thanks for the pictures! Australia is on the top of my list to visit.

Pic. #6 would be Licuala peltata Sumawongii.
